Torrington, WY (by Cindy Sheeley) June 20th, 2024 — The sidewalks on Main Street in Torrington are beginning to fill with fun drawings as the second week of the “Chalk the Walk Contest” comes to a close. Already there are several fun designs with ice cream, sunshine, Mario, SpongeBob, Mike Wazowski, and more.

The “Chalk the Walk Contest” is a part of Go Goshen’s Summer Concert Series events. Each Wednesday during the concert the artists have a chance to win prizes.

Each week, there is a different theme. The first week was summertime and this week was favorite characters.

This contest provides the community a fun time to get out on Main Street, get creative, and have fun.

Next week the designated theme is celebrating community. Entries are due June 25th.

The “Chalk the Walk Contest” is open to all artists and is divided into three age categories. During the event, artists can find a designated “canvas area,” marked by “chalk designs welcome here” signs, on Main Street and its adjacent side streets. The area must be at least one sidewalk square and can be up to three squares.

Chalk will be provided if needed, and may be picked up at Goshen County Library, Cowboy Clinic, Bloedorn Lumber Co., Go Goshen, or the Edward Jones-Ryan Yung office.

Artwork must be family-friendly, avoid political statements, and not advertise alcohol or tobacco.

Artwork must be submitted each Tuesday by 4 p.m. by posting to Facebook and tagging #gogoshen or emailing [email protected]. You can register online at gogoshen.com.
