Goshen County Historical Society Program

May 28 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

The Goshen County Historical Society is presenting the WyoRing Handbell Choir at their end of the year program on Tuesday, May 28th at 7 p.m.. Joyce Willeke, director of the WyoRing Handbell Choir, will provide a brief history of the origin of the handbells who have chimed through the corridors of history, marking their presence from the medieval cloisters to celebratory peals in town squares. The rich timbre of the handbell has filled the air with melodious harmony since the 7th century, resonating through centuries of cultural evolution and technological progress. Ms. Willeke will share the history of when the bells came to Torrington as the ringers preform several pieces during the story of the bell history and share the rich tapestry of sound, reliant on precise ensemble configuration, a diverse repertoire and refined conducting techniques. The program will be at the East Gate Baptist Church on 1715 E. L Street in Torrington. The presentation is free and open to the public.
