Torrington, WY February 1st, 2024 — Goshen County School District Superintendent Ryan Kramer talked with student council representatives from Goshen County schools during School Talk today on KERM-FM. Leah Foster (LFLHS), Kylee Llewellyn (SEHS), and Alyssa Albaugh (THS) announced the Goshen County Winter Formal on February 10th. Not only will it be a way for students to have fun and socialize, the Student Council representatives said that the event will also be a way to give.

“The Winter Formal is on February 10th at the Torrington Rendezvous Center,” said Albaugh. “It’s from 9:00PM – 11:00PM, and the entry fee is a free-will donation, or a non-perishable item. The non-perishable item will be going to WyoHelp.”

“It’s not just a dance,” said Foster. “When we all met together for the first time, everyone immediately took notice to some needs within the schools. We all felt that we wanted to help in some way so that kids would know that they’re seen and not necessarily alone. We wanted to make sure that kids had a positive experience surrounding their school days, and we wanted to make sure that they could focus on their education without any outside factors. We set this goal for next week – $10,000 for all three schools. All of the money will go back to the students and impact them directly. It will go towards paying off lunch debt, the backpack program, closets within schools, and so much more. It’s really customizable for whatever the school’s specific needs are right now. We know it’s a really big ask, but we truly believe that, when our community comes together, it’s a very achievable goal.”

Alyssa Albaugh says that the dress code will be casual to semi-formal.

“Casual to semi-formal – we wanted everyone to be able to have a chance to participate in the dress-up activities,” said Albaugh.

Kylee Llewellyn talked about activities to help raise additional funds.

“Each school will be doing some big fundraisers during the month of February,” said Llewellyn. “Torrington High School will be serving a chili and cinnamon roll supper on Friday, February 9th, at 4:30PM, and doing a “chuck-a-duck” at halftime for the girls and boys varsity basketball games. Lingle High School will be holding a rock-paper-scissors tournament for a grand prize of a $100 gift card to Lira’s. LFL will also do a “chuck-a-duck” at the basketball games vs. Guernsey, and selling Valentine’s cookies and Gatorades. Southeast Junior High and High School will be selling Italian Sodas at Southeast’s Wrestling Duals on February 3rd, and at the Junior High boys basketball quad on February 9th.”
