Scott Smith Announces Re-Election Campaign for House District 5

May 6, 2024 | Politics

Lingle, WY (RELEASE from Scott Smith) May 6th, 2024 — Representative Scott Smith announced today his intention to seek the Republican nomination again and re-election for Wyoming House District 5 with the
following statement:

“It has been a true honor to represent Goshen County the past two years in the Wyoming State Legislature. I continue to be humbled by the outpouring of support shown towards me and my campaign.

I have fought hard for District 5 during my time as your Representative in the Wyoming State House. My voting record reflects a collective desire to keep more money in your pockets, promote fewer government regulations, and maintain the freedoms we all enjoy here in Wyoming! The voters of Goshen County sent me to Cheyenne to uphold Republican Party principles and platforms, and I have done just that!

However, the battle to ensure freedom and liberty continues. This is a very important election year both locally and nationally. That’s why I’m announcing my campaign for re-election to continue being your Representative in the Wyoming State House. I would greatly appreciate your support and vote to send me back to Cheyenne to keep fighting the good fight on August 20, 2024. Early Voting begins July 23rd.

The last two years on the Wyoming House floor has been a battle between good and evil, liberty and big government burdens, tax and spend liberals and Constitutionally minded Platform Republicans. The fight to keep our Constitutional Republic and freedoms is very real in Wyoming. The struggle to keep our state from transforming into a “democracy” is knocking at our door.

As a Conservative Republican, here are some issues I have voted to support on your behalf the past two years in State Legislature:
• Strengthening parental rights in education
• Protecting minor children from “gender affirming” abuses
• Promoting election integrity
• Prohibiting the creation and establishment of a firearms registry in Wyoming

I have also been a strong advocate for budget appropriations for the Goshen Irrigation District to repair critical infrastructure that supports our farmers and ranchers. Repairs to the canal tunnels continues to be an on-going project, and I remain committed to see it through to completion.

Unfortunately, due to Liz Cheney Republicans who control the House of Representatives and Governor Gordon’s vetoes, other important legislation affecting our freedoms failed to be enacted into law, such as:
• Property Tax Relief for all residential property owners
• Elimination of Gun-free zones across the state
• Regulating abortion centers while lawsuits prohibiting abortions are pending.

Much more work remains. With your help, support and vote to send me back to Cheyenne, your conservative representation will continue to be secured. I again thank you for your past support, it has truly been a blessing to get to know so many of you throughout the entire community.

Like the Biblical Land of Goshen, our beautiful district is fruitful. Home to the state’s most abundant agricultural producers who work tirelessly to feed the nation. Wyoming House District 5 is what America once was and I seek to preserve our heritage for the generations to come.

As the primary election campaign starts, I look forward to seeing and visiting with you this summer. Please know that if you are concerned about a specific state issue, feel free to call or text my personal cell phone: 307-575-3742. Vote Scott Smith early or on August 20!”
