Torrington, WY (National Weather Service) June 10th, 2024 — Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected across a large portion of the region today. Thunderstorms are expected to develop by Noon over the higher terrain of the central and southern Laramie Range, increasing rapidly in coverage and intensity as they track across the high plains of southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska through the afternoon. Some storms will be strong to severe, with wind gusts in excess of 60 MPH and hail larger than one inch in diameter. There is a Slight (Level 2/5) Risk for severe storms today for areas mainly along/east of I-25 and along/north of I-80, where the greatest coverage of storms is expected. Stay weather aware today! As a reminder, the Cheyenne (KCYS) radar is down hard due to the failure of a critical part which will not arrive prior to the onset of storms. Radar data is still available from neighboring sites (Denver, Riverton, Rapid City, and North Platte).
