Torrington, WY (by Shad Bates) April 16th, 2024 — The #2 ranked Torrington Trailblazers hosted the #1 ranked Worland Warriors at Old Wiseman Field on Friday evening, and the game did not disappoint.  Worland scored the first goal of the contest at the 11:27 mark, then followed that up with a penalty kick goal at 26:05.  Anthony Arnusch found the back of the net on a free kick that was just outside the box at 30:15. The half ended with the Blazers down 2-1.

Arnusch received a pass mid-stride on the right side and took the ball cross net to tie the game 2-2 at the 57:07 mark.  Both teams exchanged shots on goal before the end of regulation.  The Blazers and Warriors, #2 and #1 in the State headed to a shoot-out.

Torrington started the shoot-out and the teams exchanged 5 goals each.  Torrington scored making it 6-5 on the scoreboard.  Worland’s shots during the first 5 shoot-out goals were all low left.  The 6th shot on goal was no different, what was different was that Blazer Goalie Ayden Shimic was able to layout and get enough of his right hand on the ball to knock it wide of the net.  Blazers win 6-5 in a shootout.

It has been a long time since Old Wiseman Field has seen this kind of excitement and a down-to-the-wire Blazer win under the lights on a Friday night.  What a win it was!
