Drunk Driver Injures 2 Teenagers in Scottsbluff Crash

Scottsbluff, NE October 3, 2023 — A drunk driver left two juvenile males injured after running a red light on Monday night in Scottsbluff.

According to a release from the Scottsbluff Police Department, officers were dispatched at 10:35PM to the intersection of 5th Avenue and East Overland after a report of a vehicle accident.

Upon arrival officers observed a 2002 Cadillac Escalade and a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu were involved in the accident. The driver of the Cadillac was identified as 29 year old Lorinda Cabrera of Scottsbluff. The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu was identified as 41 year old Elisia Rotherham of Scottsbluff.

Through the investigation it was determined that the Cadillac was southbound on 5th Avenue when it ran a red light and collided with the Malibu.

Two juvenile male occupants in the Malibu were transported to Regional West Medical Center for injuries sustained in the crash.

A DUI investigation was conducted on Cabrera. Cabrera was arrested for driving under the influence, traffic signal violation, seatbelt violation, and no license on person.

The Scottsbluff Police Department was assisted by Valley Ambulance and the Scottsbluff Fire Department.
