Erin Jesperson Named North Platte District Music Educator of the Year

Torrington, WY January 25th, 2024 — Lingle-Fort-Laramie (LFL) K-12 Music Director, Erin Jespersen, received the Wyoming Music Educators Association (WMEA) North Platte District Music Educator of the Year. The North Platte District is comprised of of all K-12 music educators in Casper, Douglas, Glenrock, Glendo, Chugwater, Lusk, Wheatland, Guernsey, Torrington, Southeast, and Lingle-Ft. Laramie.

This is Jespersen’s 23rd year in Music Education. She has spent all 23 years teaching at LFL. She has a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Music Education, both of which she received from the University of Wyoming.

When asked what Mrs. Jespersen’s most rewarding part of the job is, she said, “Definitely seeing my students succeed and overcome fears and challenges.”

Of course, with any reward in life, comes a challenge. When asked what the most challenging part of Jespersen’s job is, she commented, “Probably juggling a busy schedule. Our students are involved in
so much, which is great. However, there are certain times of the year where they are super busy.”

In addition to Jespersen’s role at LFL, she is the Co-Thespian Troupe Director at Torrington High School. The theatre program at THS is county-wide which allows all three schools in the county to participate.
