Jackie Van Mark Announces Run for House District 5

Apr 26, 2024 | Politics

Torrington, WY (from Jackie Van Mark) April 26th, 2024 — Today I am announcing my candidacy for the Wyoming Legislature, House District 5.  As the largest ag producer in the state, Goshen County needs a Representative that has an agriculture background and understands the needs of the community.  I am also committed to finding ways to encourage Wyoming’s standing as a leader in coal extraction. Keeping mines open and retaining jobs, finding innovative technology that will enhance and create jobs in the fossil fuel sector should be a high priority for the Wyoming Legislature. Without our legacy industries Wyoming suffers.  It is of the utmost importance to have strong representation and leadership in the House to continue to fight for Goshen County, and the State of Wyoming

As a fourth-generation, Wyoming, dry land wheat farmer, I was raised to believe that the “amber waves of grain’, that our national anthem speaks of is a direct reference to Goshen County.  Over 100 years ago, my great grandparents homesteaded the land that my sisters and I own.  Whether it was operating equipment, cleaning bins, or tossing bales we were raised to work, and respect the land.  My sisters and I still raise wheat, and dry land sunflowers.  We are directly involved in the day-to-day operations, and the marketing of our product.  Additionally, I am a small business owner.  I work daily to promote our community, and to showcase the wonderful way of life we have in Goshen County.  I am a lifelong Republican that believes in small, and responsible government.

I love our state and our community, and I will fiercely protect and promote both.  Challenging an incumbent is not an action to take lightly but, I believe it is necessary.
