WHP Closes 79 Miles of Highway for Barricaded Suspect

Casper, WY (RELEASE) February 5th, 2024 — On Saturday, February 3rd, the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiations Team responded to assist the Wyoming Highway Patrol with an armed barricaded suspect inside of their vehicle on HWY 20-26 west of Casper.

Law enforcement officers were able to effectively communicate with the suspect and they surrendered peacefully. The suspect is in custody and the investigation is ongoing.

Law enforcement had to shut down the highway between Moneta and Casper during the incident.
