Emma was born February 20, 1947, in Wheatland, WY, the daughter of Sidney and Florence (Hitt) Jenkins. She was one of 10 children raised in Wheatland, until she married Jim Werner on October 16, 1963. They enjoyed their life together, dancing many nights at Hubbard’s Cupboard. Her adult life was spent as an exceptional care giver in hospitals, nursing homes, and home-health settings. Also, many students remember her as the best lunch lady ever. Emma enjoyed spending time with family, camping, fishing, crocheting, word search, gardening, canning, taking care of her animals—but, most of all her grandkid sleepovers. In 2011, Emma was diagnosed with dementia; the family was fortunate to spend quality time with her until the spring of 2022, when the Memory Care Center provided a safe and caring place for her to be.
She is survived by her sons, Shane (Shelly) of Yoder, Destry (Jennelle) of Torrington, Todd (Mary) of Torrington; her daughter Kristi (Mark) of Torrington and stepdaughter, Jamie of Yoder; her 18 grandkids and 17 great-grandkids and 5 brothers.
